In-Wall Smart Switch

Your HALO Home In-Wall Smart Switch allows you to turn ON and OFF standard lighting, exhaust and ceiling fans from your HALO Home App or other HALO Home accessories. In this Quick Start Guide you will:

  1. Pair your installed HALO Home In-Wall Smart Switch to the HALO Home App.
  2. Learn about additional features and information.

Pair Your Installed HALO Home In-Wall Smart Switch to the HALO Home App

1. Install the HALO Home In-Wall Smart Switch in your desired location

(See enclosed instruction sheet. For indoor use only. Only for use with standard lighting: incandescent max. 960W or CFL/LEDs max. 400W, or small motor loads: ½ HP Motor or 1800W (15A) resistive).

Once powered your HALO Home In-Wall Smart Switch will:

  • turn ON the attached lighting load after a short delay
  • flash the indicator LED to indicate that it is ready to be paired

Note: The HALO Home In-Wall Smart Switch operates as soon as power is applied and can be used to control the connected load before being paired with the HALO Home App.

Already a HALO Home user? Open the app and skip to step 4.

2. Download the HALO Home App to your smart mobile device

3. Create a user account and validate via email

  1. Enter your email address as your user account name.
  2. Create a password of at least 8 characters and complete other entries on the mobile application “Register” screen.
  3. Once registered, verify your identity by clicking the link in your validation email.
  4. Navigate back to and login to the HALO Home App.

4. Add the Smart Switch to the app

Note: Make sure your mobile device’s Bluetooth is turned on and within 40’ of the Smart Switch.

  1. Tap the " ☰" menu button.
  2. Navigate to "Devices" and tap the " + " icon.

(The app will scan for your installed, unpaired devices).

  1. Select the Smart Switch and click “Add” to complete the pairing process.

Once paired, the Smart Switch indicator LED will stop flashing.

Note: If the device firmware is outdated, an exclamation point will display on the device in the device list. Tap the exclamation point and following the onscreen instructions to update the device.

5. Add the Smart Switch to a group (optional)

Not using lighting groups? Skip to step 6.

Allow your HALO Home devices, schedules, or voice commands to control multiple lights by assigning your smart lighting and your Smart Switch to a group(s).

Note: Voice commands require a HALO Home Internet Bridge and either an Amazon Alexa or Google Home account/device.

  1. Tap the " ☰ " menu button.
  2. Navigate to “Groups” and tap the " + " icon (or select a previously created group).
  3. Enter a short unique name for your group and press “Done”.
  4. Drag and drop devices from the bottom to the top screen area to add them to the group.
  5. Tap “Next” to save the group.

6. Add the Smart Switch to a scene (optional)

Not using lighting scenes? Skip this step.

Command your lighting to specific levels to suit your tasks or mood by creating scenes that can be operated from your HALO Home devices, schedules, or voice commands.

Note: Voice commands require a HALO Home Internet Bridge and either an Amazon Alexa or Google Home account/device.

  1. Tap the " ☰ " menu button.
  2. Navigate to “Scenes” and tap the " + " icon (or select a previously created scene).
  3. Enter a short unique name for your scene and press “ + ”.
  4. Drag and drop devices from the bottom to the top screen area to add them to the scene.
  5. Tap each device to define its light level (and color temperature for devices that support this) for the scene.
  6. Tap “Next” to save the scene.

Set up a schedule for the Smart Switch

If you want the Smart Switch to control its connected lighting with a schedule, follow these steps:

  1. Open the HALO Home App.
  2. Press the " ☰" menu button.
  3. Navigate to “Schedules” and tap the " + " icon.
  4. Enter a unique name for your schedule and press “OK”.
  5. Tap to select an On/Off, On or Off command.
  6. Tap “Dimming” in the center of the dial to select the ON light level for dimmable lights.
  7. Using the dial, set your desired time.
  8. Tap the days of the week you want the schedule applied to.
  9. Tap “Save” to apply your schedule and then "Dismiss" after the confirmation notice appears.
  10. Tap “Apply” to select the Device, Group or Scene to include in the schedule.
  11. “Save” to update and save your schedule.

Override lighting manually (temporary)

The In-Wall Smart Switch will control the connected lighting regardless of connection to the HALO Home App or other HALO Home Controllers. Simply use the onboard switch to turn ON and OFF the connected load. The connected lighting will also respond to a manual power cycle, turning the connected load ON until it receives the next HALO Home App, accessory, or voice command.

Reset the HALO Home In-Wall Smart Switch to factory settings

ONLY DO THIS STEP IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REMOVE THE DEVICE FROM THE APP.
If removal is not possible, delete it by clicking "my device is broken" and then do the factory reset steps:

To reset the HALO Home In-Wall Smart Switch to factory settings:

  • Press and hold the ON button for 12 seconds to reset.
  • The LED will start flashing indicating the reset is processing and will continue flashing to indicate that it is ready to be paired with the HALO Home App.

Power cycle behavior

  • The HALO Home In-Wall Smart Switch will turn connected lighting ON if power is cycled
