Control Your HALO Home System Using Voice Commands with Amazon Alexa

Before you can control your lighting with voice commands, you need to have:

  • HALO Home account and mobile app
  • Amazon Alexa account and mobile app
  • One or more HALO Home lighting devices to control
  • One operational HALO Home Internet Access Bridge in your location
  • Best Practice would also require all Devices/Groups/Scenes to have unique nonnumeric names.
    Examples such as 'Basement', 'Family Room', etc. Instead of 'RL1', 'RL2', etc.

 

Voice Command Receiver Action
"Alexa, turn on ..." Fixture, Group, Scene Turns receiver on to previous setting
"Alexa, turn off ..." Fixture, Group, Scene Turns receiver off
"Alexa, dim up ..." Fixture, Group Brightens receiver 25% from the previous setting
"Alexa, dim down..." Fixture, Group Dims receiver 25% from the previous setting
"Alexa, dim ... to 50%" Fixture, Group Dims receiver to 50% lumen output
"Alexa, set ... to Warm White" OR "Alexa, make ... warmer" Fixture, Group Changes the receiver CCT to 2700K, respective to request 
"Alexa, set ... to Cool White" OR "Alexa, make ... cooler" Fixture, Group Changes the receiver CCT to 5000K, respective to request

Other commands for warmer CCT:

  • Alexa, set ... to: Warm White, Candlelight, Soft, Reading, Relaxing

Other commands for cooler CCT:

  • Alexa, set ... to: Cool White, Cool, Bright White, Daylight, Daytime
